<p>Inactivation of infectious micro-organisms and/or antigens derived from them, espec. rabies virus, by lyophilisation of an aq. suspn. folld. by heating. As antigens for vaccine prodn. More convenient and safer than known methods employing chemical or physical agents. The products are stable, not denatured, more effective as vaccine producers and stable on storage without refrigeration. The aq. suspn. of biol. material is treated with a stabiliser, the mixt. lyophilised and the dry product heated at 30-110 deg. for periods of 15 min. to 12 weeks. As stabilisers, the follg. may be used: a polymer based on degraded gelatin (Haemaccel), a soln. of powd. dried milk, a soln. of sucrose or maltose and glutamate, or a broth of glucose and gelatin.</p> |
