The permanent shade or window blind (1) is fastened to the wall (6) on either side of the window by fittings (3) embedded in the wall and holding catches (4) attached to the sides of the blind. The fittings form re-entrant grooves and the catches have hooked engaging surfaces resting on the lower lip of the fitting. The interior of the wall fitting has a horizontal top surface and a vertical rear surface and the bottom surface forms a pouch (8) shaped so that the catch cannot slip out of place.
