A coating pigment for coating print carriers, in particular paper and cardboard, is described which contains at least one swellable layer silicate which can be fixed substantially without a binder on the print carrier, the proportion of the swellable layer silicate being at least 30% by weight and the swelling volume of the coating pigment being 5 to 30 ml, relative to a suspension of 2 g of coating pigment in 100 ml of water. An aqueous coating compound, which contains such a coating pigment, and a print carrier, which is coated on one or both sides with the coating pigment or coating compound, are also described. A process for improving the de-inking ability of printed print carriers is also described. |
