The ceramic is based on alumina containing 0.2-3 wt.% tungsten of less than 2μm average particle size and 0.05-2 wt.% TiO2. The alumina based powder is sintered to above 3.8 g/cm2 sintering density at 1,500-1,650 deg.C. The alumina ceramic of dark black color has more than 1014 cm insulation resistance, 9- 10 dielectric constant and 2 x 10-3 dielectric loss, and is useful for electronic components like IC package etc..
