Mould heated tooling consisting of a hollow tool (1) and cover (2) has a layer of conducting fibres (3) connected between two current carrying terminals (4,5) as a means of heating. The fibres are rectilinear, parallel and equidistant. The terminals (4,5) are formed by bars perpendicular to the fibres, which are carbon embedded in fibre glass reinforced synthetic resin. Also claimed is thermoforming tooling with this type of tool heating. USE/ADVANTAGE - Heated mould tools partic. for prodn. of spot cushions using P.U. foam or thermoforming caps. Produces uniform and reproducible heating compared to external resistance or conduction heating.
