PURPOSE:To improve the compression efficiency by taking difference between reference picture data obtained from the same picture source and processing object picture data, compressing the difference, expanding the compressed picture data and obtaining expanded picture data from the compressed picture data and reference picture data. CONSTITUTION:Picture data OR(1) are used for reference picture data and coded by a coding section 131 and compressed picture data CMD(1) are stored in a storage section 141. On the other hand, a difference device 122 takes a difference between picture data OR(2) and the picture data OR(1) as difference picture data DI(2), a coding section 132 codes the data and compressed picture data CMD(2) are stored in a storage section 142. Thus, compressed picture data CMD(1), (2) of the picture data DR(1), (2) are obtained. Then decoding sections 151, 152 decode the compressed picture data CMD(1), (2) to obtain the picture data OR(1) and the difference picture data DI(2). Succeedingly an adder 172 adds the data DI(2), OR(1) to obtain the OR(2). |
