PURPOSE:To provide an automatic focus adjusting device for driving a photographic lens smoothly so as to follow a moving object being photographed. CONSTITUTION:The moving speed of the photographed body image face of a photographic lens 100 is computed on the basis of the distance between the predetermined focus face and the photographed image face of the photographic lens 100, that is, the defocus quantity and the moving quantity of the photographic lens 100. The focus position of the photographic lens 100 for getting the photographed image face to coincide with the predetermined focus face is further computed on the basis of the computed moving speed, the defocus quantity and the moving quantity of the photographic lens 100 (104). The position of the photographic lens 100 is then controlled on the basis of the positional deviation between the focus position and present position of the photographic lens 100 (106), and the moving speed of the photographic lens 100 is controlled on the basis of position control output and the moving speed of the photographed body image face. |
