PURPOSE:To provide the method and device for smoothing enlarged characters so that smoothing processing can be performed at high speed with simple configuration. CONSTITUTION:A source enlarged image (1) enlarging a source image (m) times [(m) is an integer >=2] in a main/sub scanning direction is inputted, a first image (2) is generted by moving this source enlarged image (1) in a first direction, a second image (3) is generated by moving the source enlarged image (1) oppositely to the first direction, and the enlarged image is smoothed by ANDing the first image (2) and the second image (3) and ORing an ANDed image (4) and the source enlarged image (1). |
