The invention relates to a self-loadable and self-unloadable railway open truck provided with a box (1) with high walls (2, 3) and with a bulk material loading and unloading system comprising a general conveyor (4) intended to convey bulk material from a front wall (2) to the other wall of the box and arranged at a medium level close to the upper edges of the box (1). The loading and unloading system further comprises a handling apparatus (5) for reloading onto the general conveyor the bulk material deposited in the box, comprising a bucket chain collecting the bulk material and circulating in a plane transversal to the longitudinal direction of the box (1) and of the general conveyor (4), while the handling apparatus may move in translation between the front walls (2) of the box.
