摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To improve the alignment accuracy of a counter electrode by eliminating the damages to a liquid crystal layer at the time sticking substrates. CONSTITUTION:The liquid crystal layer 19 is formed via a transparent interlayer insulating layer 18 on a substrate 12 formed with switching elements 13 and pixel electrodes 17 and after a counter (transparent) electrode 12 is formed via the transparent interlayer insulating layer 20, a transparent insulating protective layer 22 is further provided. The counter substrate 11 is stuck thereto. The switching elements 13, the pixel electrodes 17, the liquid crystal layer 19 and the counter (transparent) electrodes 21 are successively formed on the substrate 12 and are formed on the same substrate 12 and, therefore, the boundary surface of the liquid crystal layer 19 remains without being roughened in the stage for sticking the counter substrate 11. Since the pixel electrodes 17 and the transparent electrode 21 facing these electrodes exist on the same substrate, there is no need for executing the alignment with the high accuracy in the stage for sticking the counter substrate 11.</p>
