PURPOSE:To display an excellent picture always emphasized properly even when an aspect ratio of an input video signal is revised. CONSTITUTION:A signal from an image pickup element 2 is fed to a matrix circuit 5 in which a video signal is generated and a luminance signal from the matrix circuit 5 is fed to a peaking circuit 9. Moreover, a circuit 6 is a means detecting an aspect ratio 4:3 or 16:9 of a picture and outputs a signal representing that a picture whose aspect ratio is, e.g. 16:9 is compressed horizontally into 3/4 to the peaking circuit 9. Thus, the peaking circuit 9 revises a frequency to be emphasized in response to the aspect ratio. |
