LIQUID CRYSTAL PANEL AND LIQUID CRYSTAL PROJECTION TYPE TELEVISION USING THE PANEL

PURPOSE:To provide the liquid crystal panel of high brightness and high contrast display. CONSTITUTION:A light absorption film 18 is formed on a black matrix 17. A high-polymer dispersed liquid crystal is used for a liquid crystal 16. Light is made incident from the counter electrode substrate 11 side of the liquid crystal panel. The light with which the black matrix 17 is irradiated is reflected. The incident light is scattered and is partly absorbed in the light absorption film 8 when a voltage is not impressed to the liquid crystal 16. The incident light is emitted as it is from picture element electrodes 14 at the time of a transmission state when the voltage is impressed to the liquid crystal 16. The need for a polarizing plate is eliminated and the high-brightness display is executed by using the high-polymer dispersed liquid crystal 16. The quantity of light transmission at the time of scattering is decreased and the contrast is improved by forming the light absorption film 18 on the liquid crystal layer.
