New conjugates (I) comprises a peptide (II) physically or chemically linked to a high-molecular-wt. polysaccharide (III), where (II) is capable of inducing antiinflammatory, antiallergic or immunosuppressant activity w.r.t. interleukins of the IL-1, IL-6, and alpha-TNF group, and has a sequence of at least four amino acids derived from MSH (melanotropin). Also claimed are biologically active peptides (IV) contg. at least one sequence of fomrula X-Glu-His-A-Arg-Trp-Gly-Y (IVa). A = Phe, or DPhe; X = H-Met, H-Nle, H-Ser-Tyr-Ser-Met, H-Ser-Tyr-Ser-Nle, Ac-Nle, Ac-Leu or Ac-Ile; Y = NH2 or OH. Also claimed are microspheres comprising a conjugate (I) covered with layers of fatty acids and/or phospholipids. USE/ADVANTAGE - (I) and (IV) have antiinflammatory, antiallergic and immunosuppressant activity, and also stimulate melanin biosynthesis. They may be used in pharmaceutical, dermatological and cosmetic compsns. includiing compsns. for accelerating skin tanning. (I) may have higher activity against delayed hypersensitivity reactions than (II).
