Package for elongated articles - made from folded panel e.g. of cardboard with inner notched supports of expanded polystyrene on inner surfaces of two non-adjacent sides

The package for elongated articles such as bars (3) or long bolts is made from a panel of a mateiral such as cardboard which is folded lengthwise to form the sides (10, 11, 12, 13) of the package. The inner surfaces of at least two non-adjacent sides are equipped with supports (2) for the packaged article, each one having a notch (21) to engage with the article when the package sides are folded together and fixed e.g. with strips (5) of self-adhesive material such as hook and loop pile fabric. The panel forming the package can have at least one traverse perforated line (17) which allows it to be cut to length once it has been made up. The supports (2) can be made from expanded polystyrene. ADVANTAGE - Provides improved protection for elongated articles during transport.
