Described is a process and a device for separating pulverized plastics of varying density using a flow. According to this process, a mixture of liquid and plastics of varying density is fed to a separting basin or the like. Flows are generated in at least two vertical planes by the admission of liquid in a channel (2) situated in the separating basin (1) and distributed over its length, and the liquid/plastic mixture, once it has passed through the separating basin (1), is fed into a collecting vessel (6) where the lighter plastics swimming at the surface of the liquid are drawn off or collected in a separate section of the vessel, while the heavier plastics sink to the bottom of the vessel and are removed there.
