The network of heating wires (18) arranged across the rear window (1) within a metallic frame (2) is utilised as an antenna with a connection (3) to a receiving circuit (6) placed as near to it as possible at the edge of the window. The heating current is supplied from the battery (7) through a bifilar coil (5). The circuit has an input capacitor (16), an active element (8) and an amplifier, and is earthed (10) to the window frame. ADVANTAGE - Antenna connection and receiving circuit can be positioned to suit characteristics of vehicle, and power loss in bifilar wound coil can be reduced.
