An epicyclic double helical gearbox, particularly for use in a vehicle drive train, has a sungear located on a driveshaft with several planet gears in a planet carrier. An annulus gear encloses the planet gears, comprisng two components whose helical toothing is arranged in opposing directions. The toothing directions of both components (6A, 8B) are chosen such that axial forces arising in operation are directed towards each other. ADVANTAGE - Improved control of axial forces, simple design, easy assembly.
