The steering linkage arm is fabricated from sheet metal. The steel sheet parts (10,12) are formed by two part sections (25,27) of a folded plate cut-out section (23). The two parts are joined by a weld along their edge regions (58,60). The two part sections are formed into a box profile. A bearing socket (16 or 18) is created by a shaped section (24') of the two halves at the same time as the plate section is folded. USE/ADVANTAGE - Cost-effective method of producing a part having a ring collar section.
