The flexible cover is fixable on the lower support plate (11) by fasteners along its edge facing the lower part. The base plate is pref. rectangular with indentations (4) in the corners to take the feet of the object. The lower part can be an injection moulded or deep drawn part or made from a flat blank with bent up edges whose overlapping corner areas are fixed together. The cover (2) has an opening (23) on its side remote from the lower part or in a side face for holding the object and is secured by a draw cord (25) passing through a channel socket (24) at the edge of the opening. USE/ADVANTAGE - The packaging can be handled by fork lift stackers and is suitable for protecting bulky objects which are other than square.
