The locking mechanism is for the lengthwise adjustment of a car-seat in particular, there being spring-loaded locking pins (9) engaging in holes (6) in a guide rail (2) fixed to the car body. An unlocking lever (13) hinges on the seat on an axis parallel to the rail, moving the pins in opposition to the springs by one end. At the other end it has a cam surface (20) adjusting the velocity ratio between it and an operating lever (18) acting against it. The operating lever likewise hinges in a bearing (24) parallel to the rail. The operating lever can be double-armed, with a boss (17) at one end acting against the unlocking lever, and a handle (25) at the other. USE/ADVANTAGE - Easy hand operation of vehicle seat adjustment, requiring virtually constant effort.
