<p>4-Quinazolone derivs. (I) R1 = H, alkyl, aryl, aralkyl, heterocyclyl R2 = as R1, alkoxy R3,4 = H, halogen, NO2, NH2, OH, alkoxy, aryloxy, alkyl, aryl X = O, S or a linkage. As acylating agents in peptide chemistry. Also show antiinflammatory, pesticidal, fungicidal, insecticidal and herbicidal properties. A mixt. of 4-quinazolone (5 g.) and Ac2O (50 ml) is refluxed for 6 hrs. and then evapd. in vacuo. The residue is treated with benzene, filtered to remove unreacted material and the filtrate evapd. to yield 3-acetyl-4-quinazolone, m.p.86-8 deg. (benzene).</p> |
