Assembling IC engine valves with adjustable drive - uses valve play equaliser compressed by extra external force acting on drive part

The valve gear has a hydraulic valve play equaliser (1) which is compressed by an extra external force acting on a part of the valve drive (3) in force direction of the valve spring (2). Pref. the extra force is of tensile type and acts on valve rocker (5) sides associated with the valve stem (4). The extra force may act on the valve spring or on valve spring plate. If the extra force is of compression type, it acts on the rocker side associated with the valve push-rod (15). ADVANTAGE - Rapid assembly due to facility for simultaneous compression of several equalisers independently of the camshaft.
