A quick release bottle (50) and holder (10) combination for bicycles is disclosed. The bottle (50) is formed of blow molded plastic and has a generally cylindrical center section (52) and a frustoconical base section (56), with an annular groove (54) defined in the center section adapted to be mounted to a tubular bicycle frame member (11), with a frustoconical bottle support (22) appended to one end of the base member (12) to engage the frustoconical base section of the bottle. Opposing generally arcuately shaped pincer members (32, 34, 38, 40) are provided, with one pincer member attached to the base member and the other attached to the support member at a point opposite the base member. When the frustoconical base section (56) of the bottle (50) is inserted between the pincers, the base section spreads the pincers to engage the annular groove in the bottle's center section. To release the bottle (50) from the holder (10), the bottle (50) may be pivoted to either side, at the gaps between the pincers, to spread the pincers, releasing them from the bottle's annular groove (54). |
