MECHANICAL ARTICULATED JOINT WITH VARIABLY POSITIONABLE AXIS OF ARTICULATION

A mechanical articulated joint with variably positionable axis of articulation for use as a prosthesis of knee joint which is able to ensure stability and characteristic of movement nearing those inherent to normal human knee joints. It consists of two members (1) and (2) coupled slidably together by means of bolts (3) and (4) mounted in the member (1). Free ends of the bolts are guided in appropriately profiled guiding slots (5). Curvilinear surfaces (8) and (9) constitute an additional support.
