The sealing cord (2) is fitted into a groove (1) in the edges of adjoining boiler sections and is made up of two longitudinal different components (3,4). One of these components (3) is resistant to water pressure (W), and the other (4) withstands hot gases (H). The composition can be a water resistant core (3) surrounded by a shell of hot gas repellent (4), or a layer of gas resistant material (4) superimposed on a base of water resistant sealant (3). An alternative composition of the cord has one side of it in hot gas resistant material and the other side in a water pressure withstanding sealant. ADVANTAGE - Forms a perfect seal.
