The assembly to needle-bond a nonwoven felting has a needle board with rows of needles in groups, with barbs on their shafts to engage the fibres. The needles of the groups for the final rows, in the direction of material travel, have fewer barbs on their shafts to catch the fibres than on the needles of the preceding rows. Pref. the needles of at least the last two needle groups, in the direction of material travel, have fewer shaft barbs than the other needles. The number of shaft barbs decreased towards the final needle group. The needles, within each group, have a decreasing number of shaft barbs towards the final needles in each group, in the direction of material travel. |
