<p>A power tool (10) with a two-part housing (11) has a drive motor (20) with a pinion gear (22) on the motor shaft (21). A plastic cylindrical ring gear (31) is fixed to the motor (20) in coaxial surrounding relationship with the pinion gear (22) and has attachment lugs (41) which fit between the two parts (12,13) of the tool housing (11) and are fixedly secured to each. A plastic gear carrier frame (60) is insert molded on a splined end (55) of a metal output shaft (51) and is receivable within the ring gear (31) and has radial slots (69) for respectively receiving pins (71) which respectively rotatably mount three planet gears (70) in meshing engagement with the pinion gear (22) and the ring gear (31). The carrier frame has a hollow stub shaft portion (66) which receives the pinion gear (22) therethrough, stump the stub shaft portion (66) having an elastomeric O-ring (68) seated in a circumferential groove (67) therein for press-fitting a ball bearing (48) thereon, the ball bearing (48) being in turn press-fitted in a seat (37) in the ring gear (31) to support the planet gear assembly. <IMAGE></p> |
