Lamp holder with switch

A lamp holder for a decorative string or Christmas tree light assembly comprising a base having first and second portions (1, 2) with a switch (21, 110, 111) at a bottom of the first said base portion. The switch has two opposite electrical contacts (110, 111) connected respectively to the electric circuit (130, 131) of a decorative string or Christmas tree light assembly. Removing a lamp from the holder causes a conductive spring (21) located in said second base portion (2) to interconnect said switch contacts (110, 111) to permit the electrical circuit of such decorative string or Christmas tree light assembly to be constantly electrically conductive. The contacts (110, 111) mate with contacts (10, 101) of a bulb (3) and while mating an insulating projection (32) removes the short caused by the spring (21) acting as a switch.
