The present invention is a plastic container (42) with a barrier label (45). In use, the barrier label (45) is wrapped around and adhered to a container (42). The barrier label (45) preferably is transparent so that the contents of the container (42) are visible to the observer at the same time identifying information may be displayed on the barrier label (45). The barrier label is useful for providing an effective barrier against gas permeability in containers and for extending shelf-life of containers, especially plastic evacuated blood collection devices.
