In a device for cleaning a cylinder, in particular a blanket cylinder (2) of a rotary offset printing machine, having a cleaning apparatus (6, 7) which can be engaged against the surface of the cylinder at sporadic intervals during the operation and which can be actuated by means of an engagement apparatus (10), and having a control apparatus (12) by means of which the engagement apparatus (10) can be actuated once or several times during each cleaning operation depending on a selectable cleaning programme, the occurrence of waste paper can be minimized and the useful production time optimised and thus, in total, good efficiency achieved, in that the speed of the cylinder (2) to be cleaned can be recorded, and in that the control apparatus (12) is programmed in such a way that the duration of the same cleaning operation decreases with an increasing speed of the cylinder. <IMAGE> |
