PURPOSE:To increase an initial adhering amount of cells to the surface of a base and to multiply the cells efficiently, by bringing cells suspended in a medium having no blood serum into contact with a cultivation base, followed by adding blood serum to the medium. CONSTITUTION:Cells are suspended in a medium, e.g., an Eagle's medium having no blood serum, etc. to give a cell suspension, which is brought into contact with a base in a carbon dioxide incubator maintained at about 37 deg.C for about 0.02-10 hours, preferably about 0.1-5 hours so that the cells are fully made to adhere to the surface of the base. Blood serum(preferably that of a calf or a fetus of cattle) is added to the medium to make the concentration about 5-10wt%., or the medium is replaced by that having about 5-10wt% of blood serum and the cultivation is continued. The cells are thus efficiently multiplied and the method can be applied to a method using a plastic laboratory dish or a cultivation bottle, or a method using a semipermeable membrane. |
