PURPOSE:To improve sensitivity and precision in detection of angular velocity by an apparatus having a simple construction and being small in size, by making a vibrator vibrate at a resonant frequency thereof and by detecting a vibratory wave in a state of resonance of the vibrator by a vibratory wave detecting means. CONSTITUTION:A vibrator 14 is formed in the shape of a round rod and resonant frequencies thereof in the directions X and Y are the same substantially. An operating scale is provided at the upper end of the vibrator 14. A vibration generating means 16 has a magnet plate formed in the shape of a doughnut and an exciting coil wound cylindrically and an exciting coil wound cylindrically 14. When an angular velocity is inputted in this state, a Coriolis force corresponding to the angular velocity is generated in the direction of the axis Y and the vibrator 14 is made to vibrate also in the direction of the axis Y. By detecting the displacement in the direction of the axis Y generated by the Coriolis force corresponding to the inputted angular velocity by a Y-axis counter 50, therefore, an angular velocity computing means 46 can output the inputted angular velocity. |
