<p>PURPOSE:To develop the filter medium which prevents the clogging of the filter medium for the melts of Zn, Al, Cu and Mg or their alloys and the degradation in filtration performance by plating the surface of the above-mentioned filter medium with a Zn-Al alloy having a specific compsn. CONSTITUTION:The surface of the metallic filter or ceramic filter is plated with the Zn-Al alloy contg. >0.1wt.% Al at the time of the melts of the Zn, Al, Cu and Mg or their alloys contg. metallic particles, metallic compd. particles and intermetallic compd. particles consisting essentially of Fe or solid inclusions, such as metal oxide and nonmetallic inclusions, consisting essentially of Fe, Zn, Al, Cu and Mg and filtering away the solid inclusions. The Zn-Al alloy easily forms alloys and solid solns. having good wettability with Zn, Al, Cu, Mg, etc., which are the metals to be filtered and, therefore, the filter medium which does not generate the clogging of the filter and does not degrade the filter performance over a long period of time is obtd.</p> |
