PURPOSE:To carry out water purification treatment by an electrochemical means while suppressing the deterioration of an adsorbent to be used for removal of organic components in pure water to the minimum level. CONSTITUTION:Before the object water for treatment which contains organic components and an effective chlorine component is brought into contact with an adsorbent 10 to adsorb the organic components and remove them, the object water for treatment is supplied to a multiple-electrodes-type electrolytic bath 2 in which fixed bed-type cathodes are installed and the effective chlorine component is decomposed or reduced by the cathodes, and then the water is brought into contact with the adsorbent 10. As a result, since effective chlorine component is surely decomposed by the electrochemical reaction and, at the same time, the object water for treatment with sufficiently decreased content of the effective chlorine component is brought into contact with the adsorbent, deterioration and oxidation decomposition of the adsorbent can be prevented. |
