PURPOSE:To obtain a highly water-resistant thermal recording material reduced in background fog under a high temp. and high humidity condition by providing a thermal color forming layer containing an electron donating color forming dye, an acidic substance and a specific epoxy resin on a support. CONSTITUTION:A colorless or light-colored electron donating color forming dye, an acidic substance and an epoxy resin represented by formula I (wherein R1-R6 are a hydrogen atom, a 1-10C alkyl group or a phenyl group, R7-R12 are a hydrogen atom, a 1-4C alkyl group or an alkoxy group, X is a chlorine atom or a bromine atom, a, b, c, d and e are an integer of 0-1 and n is an integer of 1-10) are respectively separately ground and dispersed along with a binder by a dispersing machine such as a ball mill to prepare a coating solution which is, in turn, applied to a support such as paper, synthetic paper or a plastic sheet to form a thermal color forming layer to produce a thermal recording material. If necessary, an intermediate layer may be provided between the thermal color forming layer and the support. |
