Pyrrolidinones of formula I <IMAGE> (I) wherein R is hydrogen, C1-C4alkyl, or phenyl unsubstituted or substituted by halogen, C1-C4alkyl or by C1-C4haloalkyl, or is fluorine, chlorine or bromine; R0 is hydrogen or halogen; R1 and R2 independently of one another are hydrogen or C1-C4alkyl; X is hydrogen, flourine, chlorine, bromine, cyano, -COOR1, -CONR1R2, -NH2 or -NHCOR3, wherein R1 and R2 are as defined, and R3 is C1-C4alkyl; and Y is hydrogen, chlorine or bromine; and the diastereoisomeric forms thereof, exhibit pre- and post-emergence herbicidal properties. The preparation of those compounds and their use as herbicidal active ingredients are described. |
