PURPOSE:To provide a carbon material having excellent surface smoothness and a uniform particle size, by washing with a solvent carbon microbeads obtd. by heating a mixture of pitch and a particular satd. aliphatic hydrocarbon and/or a polyether under pressure. CONSTITUTION:Agglomerated carbon microbeads each covered by a filmy product of a polycyclic arom. compd. are obtd. by heating 100pts.wt. mixture of 5-40pts.wt. coal- and/or oil-originated pitch and 95-60pts.wt. 9C or higher satd. aliphatic hydrocarbon and/or polyethylene at 400-600 deg.C under a pressure of at least 10kg/cm<2>, pref. 15-100kg/cm<2>, for a period of 1sec-10min. The carbon microbeads are washed with a solvent (e.g. chloroform). |
