PURPOSE:To obtain a two-dimension measuring machine which can be remarkably improved in measuring efficiency by improving the indicating operation for detecting edge coordinates. CONSTITUTION:This machine first generates a box symbol B on an object A to be measured reproduced and displayed on a two-dimensional coordinate system. The symbol B is generated by specifically indicating points P1-P3 on the outside of the object A by using a mouse and, when the points are indicated, the pair of the facing longer sides of the symbol B is formed so that they can become parallel to each other and intersect the object A at a plurality of points. Then, by discriminating the darkness and brightness of the picture signals of a monitor device corresponding to the coordinates of segments respectively connecting points P1 and P3 to points P4 and P2, edge sections 1-3 are detected. Thereafter, middle points (m) and (n) are found and edge sections (e) and (f) are detected by extending segments outward from the middle points (m) and (n). Finally, the coordinate values of points x1-x4 corresponding to the vortexes of the object A are found and the length L1 of the longer sides, length L2 of the shorter sides and central coordinate values x0, y0 of the object are found from the coordinate values of each point. |
