摘要 <p>Destroying by pyrolysis a gas such as air containing solvents and volatile components. The polluted air, for example dilution air for the regeneration of active carbon filters, undergoes a treatment process with a number of stages: a first gas flow containing the components to be destroyed in suspension is channelled into a preheating unit (24); it is completely mixed with a second unpolluted gas flow from outside; the two flows join and are recycled in a solvent trap (2) to improve the desorption reaction; this flow, containing all the elements in suspension, is then submitted to a new preheating process (25) which is greater than the first so the pyrolytic oxidation reaction will be complete; the gas flow, cleansed of noxious particles, is cooled before being ejected into the environment. Installation to achieve the above process, with the air output from the solvent trap which acts as dilution air for the regeneration of active carbon filters is channelled through a preheating system and then mixed with a neq air flow, to return to the solvent trap at an appropriate temperature for the total desorption of the said trap. This air loaded with desorbed solvents is then sent to a cross-flow heat exchanger (25) where it is preheated in contact with an air flow from the pyrolytic furnace (21). The preheated air, still containing the solvents and solid particles, is completely oxidised in a number of pyrolytic chambers (23) and is then passed back through the cross-flow heat exchanger to be cooled, before being ejected into the environment. USE - Solvents are removed from the air extracted from spray paint shops (such as those in car plants) by active carbon filters. This process and installation enables the removal and destruction of the solvents from these filters using the same air.</p>
