The rectangular base (1) has a peripheral groove (17) into which fit the bottom edges of the side walls (2,3,4,5), leaving openings (13-16) to allow the box to be fixed down. The sidewall vertical edges have interlocking tongues and grooves, which may be connected by dovetailed mortise and tenon joints. Openings (11,12) at the top of one long side permit the entry of the battery main connections. The bottom and/or one side may be omitted where suitable surfaces are provided in the vehicle body. The lid (6) is moulded with flanges (7-10) fitting over the box, and may be slid into grooves formed in two opposing sidewalls. ADVANTAGE - Protects battery from extremes of cold and heat, oxidation, dust and grease contaminants. Reduced evaporation losses and degradation of terminal connections.
