PURPOSE:To enable the stable formation of a defectless hard facing layer which has excellent wear resistance and is free from the remaining of bubbles on the surface of metal (mainly Ti or Ti alloy) without being affected by welding techniques. CONSTITUTION:The material for surface hard facing is constituted of a powder mixture which contains 1-80wt.% total of >=1 kinds among metal carbide powder, metal nitride powder and metal boride powder, further, contg. 0.5-10wt.% total of either or both of Mg powder and Mg-Al alloy powder and consisting of the balance pure Ti powder or Ti alloy powder. Further, this material for surface hard facing is used and is built up on the surface of the Ti or Ti alloy, by which the Ti or Ti alloy member having the hard layer exhibiting excellent wear resistance and having good toughness and ductility is stably produced. |
