METHOD FOR SETTING IMAGE DENSITY

PURPOSE:To simply obtain stable gradation reproducibility without correcting image data even when an environmental condition is changed. CONSTITUTION:In an image forming device which is provided with an image carrier 1, an electrostatic charge device 2 and an exposure device 3 and which corrects the contrast potential (a difference between dark potential and light potential) of an electrostatic latent image in order to correct the characteristic change of developing according to the environmental condition when the electrostatic latent image is formed on the carrier 1 which is uniformly electrostatically charged and is visualized by a developing device 6 to form an image, cleaning potential (a difference between the light potential and developing bias potential as for the normal developing and a difference between the dark potential and the developing bias potential as for the reversal developing) is corrected according to the correcting quantity of the contrast potential.
