PURPOSE:To obtain a recording medium for an optical pickup using laser with a wavelength of 630-700nm by providing a membrane containing an org. dye represented by a specific general formula on a substrate and laminating a protective layer on the membrane if necessary. CONSTITUTION:A predetermined amount of a compd. represented by formula I (wherein R1-R4 are H, halogen or an alkyl group and R5-R9 are H, a hydroxyl group or an alkyl group) and a predetermined amount of a compd. selected from compds represented by formulae II, III (wherein A and B are a conjugated ring, R1-R3 are H, a hydroxyl group or a cyano group, Z is a divalent residue for forming a 5-or 6-membered ring and X<-> is an acid anion) are dissolved in a solvent to prepare a coating solution for an org. dye membrane. This coating solution is applied to a substrate composed of plastic or glass directly or through an undercoat layer and dried to form the org. dye membrane. Next, a protective layer composed of a heat-softenable and heat-meltable resin is laminated to the org. membrane if necessary to obtain an optical data recording medium. |
