PURPOSE:To obtain a beta-tricalcium phosphate calcium titanate composite body suitable as an implant without mixing a alpha-tricalcium phosphate phase by mixing an apatite hydroxide powder and titanium oxide and then calcining. CONSTITUTION:An apatite hydroxide powder or apatite hydroxide power containing beta-tricalcium phosphate powder is mixed with titanium oxide preferably in 2:1 molar ratio. Then an aq. soln. of peptization agent is added to produce a slurry which is then molded into a desired shape and dried. The obtd. molded body is calcined at about 1000-1100 deg.C to sufficiently produce a composite material of beta-tricalcium phosphate and calcium and calcium titanate. Thus, the composite body consisting of only a beta-tricalcium phosphate phase and a calcium titanate phase is obtd. When this composite body is used as an implant, absorptivity for bones and bioactivity can easily be controlled. |
