<p>PURPOSE:To improve efficiency by sharing members in processing for encoding, local decoding, and decoding. CONSTITUTION:The processing of DCT and IDCT, zigzag scan conversion and inverse conversion, and quantization and inverse quantization performed in the processing for the encoding, the local decoding, and the decoding are similar to each other. In such a case. a DCT/IDCT 105, a zigzag scan converter 106, and a quantizer/inverse quantizer 107 capable of switching two functions are provided, and they are switched synchronizing with the timing of the processing at every block, respectively. Since a time required for one processing for data at every block is extremely short, no influence is applied to the whole processing even when each member is used in time division. The scale of hardware can be reduced by sharing the processing, and the number of data buses with the outside in the making of a component into an IC can be reduced by the time divisional use of the data bus.</p> |
