PURPOSE:To provide a cosmetic which is effective against skin roughening because it has skin color lightening effect and inhibits hyaluronidase activity by containing solvent extracts of plant seeds, water caltrop nuts which have been used as foods for many years and confirmed as to their safety to human bodies. CONSTITUTION:The objective cosmetic comprises an extract of fruits of water caltrop nuts (Trapa natans L.) with water or a hydrophilic organic solvent such as ethanol, methanol or acetone or their mixture. The extract from water caltrop nuts has strong skin color-lightening effect, inhibits hyaluronidase, and has active oxygen inhibition and antioxidative properties. Thus, it can prevent fatty acids from being oxidized to suppress the formation of peroxides, skin ageing and prevents skin blackening. Therefore, it prevents skin roughening to keep the skins glossy and tensive. |
