PURPOSE:To manufacture an electric double layer capacitor which has a low height and can be manufactured through simple manufacturing processes by forming a current collecting body and activated carbon/polyacene composite electrode on an electrical insulating substrate. CONSTITUTION:After a conductive layer 2 is formed on an electrical insulating substrate 3 by a printing or sputtering method, an activated carbon/polyacene composite electrode 1 is synthesized by applying the paste-like mixture of activated carbon and a phenolic resin to the surface of the layer 2. Then the title capacitor is obtained by putting one electrode 1 on another electrode 1 in a facing state with a separator in between after impregnating the electrode 1 with an electrolyte and attaching terminal electrodes 6a and 6b to the laminated body, and then, sealing the end faces of the laminated body with gaskets 5. In addition, when a plurality of electrodes is synthesized on the same substrate, a plurality of electrical double layer capacitors are obtained at once. When conductive layers are commonly used for a plurality of electrical double layer capacitors so that the conductive layers can be electrically connected in series, an electrical double layer capacitor which has a high withstand voltage and low height can be obtained. |
