PURPOSE:To provide the subject promoter containing, as active ingredient, arabinoxylooligosaccharide, nonassimilable by putrefying bacteria such as Escherichia coli or other kinds of harmful bacteria, but selectively assimilable by bifidus alone, thus useful for bifidus highly effective for health promotion. CONSTITUTION:Wheat bran is dispersed in warm water at 50 deg.C and agitated for 5min followed by filtration by a centrifugal filtering machine to recover a solid component, which is then put into a 0.2N aqueous NaOH solution at 70 deg.C and dissolved by agitation for 90min. The resultant solution is allowed to cool and the pH value is adjusted to 6; the solution is then warmed to 50 deg.C and mixed with a cellulase's phosphate buffer solution (pH 6.0) to carry out hydrolysis for 4hr followed by raising the solution temperature to 90 deg.C and keeping the state for 30min to deactivate the enzyme. Thence, the resultant solution is allowed to cool and injected into a column packed with activated carbon to eliminate the xylooligosaccharide fraction with 10vol.% ethanol followed by eluting the adsorbed matter with 70vol.% ethanol, and the elute is concentrated to obtain arabinoxylooligosaccharide. The objective promoter contains this arabinoxylooligosaccharide as active ingredient. |
