Waste or scrap rubber is converted into a mouldable, thermoplastic resin product by the steps of mixing the vulcanised rubber (12) with a heated heavy paraffin distillate (16) on a conveyor (20). Feeding the mixture on the conveyor (20) through a heating chamber (22). Adding to the heated mixture a particulate thermoplastic scrap material (24). Masticating the mixture comprising the paraffin treated rubber and the thermoplastic material in a masticator (30) and extruding (32) and pelletising the masticated product.
