<p>The invention relates to an electric steam iron comprising a housing (1), the rear of which forms a heel (2), and a sole (3) heated by an electrical resistor (4) and having a partition (5) forming, with a closing plate (6), an evaporation chamber (7) which comprises a so-called descaling orifice (11) opening into a rear part of the iron and plugged by removably mounted closing means.
